Fun in the sun in Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh is a city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula in the South Sinai Governorate in Egypt. It is on the Red Sea. It takes around five hours to drive there from Cairo and you can see Saudi Arabia across the water. Sharm2

The weather there is hot. It is so you need to turn on the air conditioner to feel a bit cooler. In summer the average temperature is around 33 degrees celsius and in August it can get as hot as 38 degrees. In winter it gets as cold as 16 degrees. Luckily for people who like the sun it does not rain that much in winter.

There are lots of things to do in Sharm.

Tourists come to the beach to play and sometimes they swim. You can also ride motorbikes in the desert or go diving, ride camels, go St Catherine’s Monastery, spend a night in the desert or go for a ride on a boat.

The water in Sharm El Sheikh is too blue and you can also swim in the sea the hotels are fantastic and the sea is very big. There is also a huge desert behind it and big mountains. There are lots friendly fish in the sea big and small and there is lots of colourful coral which looks like flowers.

I like the beach and the hotels there because they are beautiful and I also like the food because its delicious. You can eat Egyptian food like koshari, tamaya, fish and kofta.

Even though they are not Egyptian, my favourite foods are chips and chicken and ice cream – they are very nice.

The people in Sharm are also very kind and sometimes they give you food for free when you are hungry.

There are some things that tourists need to be a little bit careful of in Sharm like mosquitos. There are lots of mosquitos and you get bitten and it is very itchy and very annoying. You also need to stay away from some of the fish in the sea.

Because it is so hot you can get burned from the sun so you need sunscreen and you also need to be careful of scams.

The currency of egypt is pounds they also speak two kinds of Arabic – Amaya and Fusha. Make sure you haggle over prices because people there will try and make you pay too much!
