My favourite football player: Pirlo

By Jonathan Kalta – 5KL

Andrea Pirlo is an Italian football player and my hero.

He is an Italian World Cup-winning footballer who plays for Serie A club Juventus. He has also played 98 games for Italy and for a few different football teams including Brescia and International Milan.

He has scored 61 goals.

Pirlo played almost 100 games for Italy.

Pirlo played almost 100 games for Italy.

According to the ESPN website, Pirlo won two UEFA champions league titles in 2003 and 2007 with Milan as well as two European super cups and an Italia Super Cup.

He captained the Italy team that won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics.

His age is 34 and his position is midfielder. He has been one of the best midfielders in the world for a long time. According to ESPN, he is a veteran who can “change a game with a single pass”. He is popular for his long passing ability and is a set-piece specialist. I think Pirlo is one of  the most accurate passers in the  game.

As well as being a very good footballer I like him because his son was my friend in Italy. We went to a school called International School of Milan. We used to go home together and play in the park.

Even though Pirlo is so successful, his brother Ivan was known as the better footballer when they were boys, according to ESPN.

Ivan now plays for a Serie C2 club in Brescia.

Pirlo was born in Flero, Italy on 19 May 1979.

He is married to Deborah Roversi and has two children – son Niccolò who was born in 2003 and daughter Angela who was born 2006.
